You can probably guess that I'm going to attempt to talk about coupons, but I need some help for my recent sources. Fall fun in the Ozarks

Sunshine Valley Farms has a great orchard where you can go and pick your own apples. Call ahead for picking days and more information.

On October 2nd and 30th are Fall Fun Days at Rutledge-Wilson Community Farm Park. If you have not been to the farm park, then you are missing out. It's a lot of fun and they have many activities for kids to do. Check out their website for kids programs and more education oppurtunities.

October 2nd is Artwalk. Artwalk is held downtown and includes music, local merchandise booths, and many shops having their doors open to view work by local artists.

October 3rd also is the 3rd Annual Taste of Springfield Food Festival. Admission is free and food tickets are sold in sheets of 10 for $10. This event is held in Park Central Square.

Art in the Park is at Sequiota Park in Springfield on Oct.10-11. This is a really fun activity, providing it does not rain (like it did last year!).

Okay, so I'm sick today(just for the heads up) and so are both of my kids. It made me start thinking about how much busier I'm going to be with school and wether or not keeping up a blog is worth it! I will still continue to share deals I think are note worthy...but as far as updating everything..nope.If you want to know what's up with me, join Facebook and request to be my friend:) I started this blog to be accountable for what I was spending and to make myself better at being a coupon-er. I have succeeded at that and am now ready to move on to add a new chapter to my life...college student. Like I said...I'll still update. But, you will see a change of pace in my blog...it will be more about me, and less about my deals. So, it pays to call in advance and order massive amounts of an overage item. Remember to be kind and polite when checking out...I thanked the cashier and the lady behind me for their patience and had multiple associates and customers watching my total drop(I just like watching their jaws drop, hehehe). Anyways, I ordered more Playtex Handsaver Glove coupons from Ebay for about $10 for 100. I had not purchased everything I was planning to buy in the next week or so and decided that, it would be about $45 less to buy coupons on Ebay...and use them for overage. I would then end up with MUCH more product for way less money...and I could either give the extra away or sell it. So, here is what I got at Dillons(I FOUND ANOTHER 20 coupons, so I'll have to call again to order more!).

Sorry for not posting Target deals already!!!!! I did go Sunday before church to do the ice cream deal with my 5 lonely Breyer's coupons(MAN! I wish I had gotten more of those, not that we need more ice cream!)...check all of the detail at HIPTOSAVE.COM. I went today and they still had ice cream, but I took the last MiracleWhip(light, squeeze in 18oz.)...they were out of cheap lunchmeat/cheese...which is okay, because it wasn't a great deal for me anyways. However, if you are a MASSIVE chips and salsa person like my hubby, you'll want to run to Target!

ALL Small and Mighty

I recently had the oppurtunity to try All Small and Mighty thanks to MomSelect and it has to be my favorite laundry detergent. With two little ones 2 and under, I prefer All Small and Mighty in Stainlifter or Free and Clear. Here are some benefits of these two versions(other than them smelling great!)

*It takes up less space than other detergents because of the 3x concentrated formula

*The stainlifting works more effectively(at least with my various at home tests) than Tide or Arm and Hammer liquid detergents.

*All Free and Clear is great for people with sensitive skin(like babies!...and cost a lot less than Dreft!). My friend has exzema and this is the only detergent she can use. #1 Dermatologist recommended.

We are having Memorial Day lunch with my in-laws, closing on a house, and have a wedding that my hubby and son are both in this week! In my "down time" I might coupon, but it is highly doubtful and I will probably be more focused on paint colors, new carpet, bathroom remodel ect...and maybe start packing;) SO...needless to say,this blog is not my priority this week.

IF NOT, GET TO IT!!! Alicia on at Gateway to Savings mentioned in one of her posts that she believed that summer months(May-Aug.) are the best for coupon-ers...and I would have to agree with her! The majority of "good" grocery coupons for food, convienece ones at that(the kind busy moms love!) are at rock bottom prices for summer holidays. If you pair this with rebates AND coupons...lets just say, that's a lot of free groceries. Target keeps being out of a lot of things, and we've been insanely busy(and will continue to be) this week...so my free Nabisco cookies, Ritz bitz, Kraft dressing, Dove travel deoderant, sunscreen ect. will have to wait*sigh*

First off, I stopped posting my monthly savings, because it gets tedious...but now I wish I had! Yes it is true! Sharing my EBay experiences

It seems kinda crazy to pay a clipping fee for coupons, but from only doing it a few times...it's completely worth it! I am still amazed that our total bill is still less than 50% of what it was this time last year when I started researching the "coupon girls" and we have even added a little one during that time! I challenged myself this past month to try and see if collecting coupons from Ebay was worth the trouble, but I have quickly realized that it is a great way to get coupons for what you need. You do need to be aware of who your seller is when you do this! Only trade with a seller who pictures the exact coupon you are purchasing and specifically says they are charging a handling fee(buying the actual coupon is illegal). Also, KNOW your coupons...don't get printables, they could be copies or PDF files that are now considered fraudulant...the best example is $2 off Silk Soy. The Silk coupon was a promotional coupon that was originally realeased as a PDF file and quickly pulled from the site a couple days later when the manufacturer realized it could be saved...that was a couple of years ago and it is still being sold on Ebay. Silk has asked that stores do not accept this coupon, so don't buy it! Anyways, on to my experiences.

DIAPERS!

This is a HUGE expense for me! I'm trying to potty train one, but it's not going well and we still have a baby and I'm NOT buying off brands...I have tried 3 different off brands and they are not the same. So, I purchased 5 FREE Pampers coupons with no max. value..and found out that ToysRUs, Dillon's ect. will happily accept them for boxes of diapers. I used these during a promo. period and paid tax on the diapers and also recieved a $15 giftcard in return! These coupons cost a fee of $9.99ea which is how much the small packs cost on sale...so I thought even if I can't get large sizes, I'm not losing money.

Seafood

This is not a necessity, but my husband and I quite enjoy shrimp and salmon. It's packed full of good stuff and so, I want to find a way to pay for it. I purchased 6 FREE Seapak products for $4.50ea...Seapak shrimp goes on sale every 3-4 weeks for 50%off at Dillon's....there is a couple of friendly cashiers that will ring the coupon in for the presale price(they are coupon-ers too) and I end up getting free seafood +about $4-$5 off my other items...not a bad deal.

FREE WYB coupons

20 FREE pasta up to $1.50 WYB 1 Ragu...it cost $10 for these or $.50 ea. I have already used 6, but the rest will be used in combination with a Budweiser rebate I got off of Ebay too. Here's how I plan to use those and the math that goes with. Wait until whole grain pasta goes on sale for $1.50 or less....

Buy 14 Ragu pasta sauce $1.78ea(Walmart price, but Dillon's sometimes has it for less...) $24.92

14 whole grain pasta $1.50ea-7 FREE WYB pasta=FREE

+$3.50(cost of the coupons)

+$2.42(cost of rebates..I do one rebate to my house, and one to friends)

-2 $10 Bud rebates that inluded $10 off $10 or more...snacks, ice, CONDIMENTS(yes, Ragu counts!)

=$10.84 for 14 Ragu and $14 pasta sauce!

Our family can use an entire box and jar for anywhere from 2-3 meals. That's like $.25 per meal for the entire family if you don't add meat!

My point is that you have to use good judgement when using Ebay, but if you do the math...it can be pretty sweet! It's also pretty fun when someone behind you gets curious about what's taking so long and realizes that your total just went to virtually nothing! He he he:)

Numerous readers are having issues with being able to stack a Target coupon and manufacturer coupon together on one item. Well, the good news is that Target's coupon policy clearly states that you can use both coupons together on one item. Their policy also states that if the value of the coupon is higher then the value of the item, then they can adjust the coupon down. Go on over here to access their coupon policy. Print it off and keep it with you every time you shop at Target. You also may want to read more about the coupon issues people have been encountering and what can be done about it here.
*I have personally had trouble whenever there is a guy manager working the front...I can not remember his name! The Sunbeam bread outlet on Chestnut Exp.(w. of West Bypass) has bread BOGO! That makes them $.50ea! If you have room in your freezer I suggest getting some!

Sunbeam Outlet carries Nature's Own breads for $1 or less and the Sara Lee Outlet located at 2350 S.Cambell(well right next to ACE Hardware) carries Saralee Bread for $1 or less! The Nature's Own includes light versions, whole wheat, whitewheat, honey ect. for the same price of $1. I honestly can't remember the varities at the SaraLee outlet.

My trip to CVS would have been GREAT, but I think they open earlier than they used to on Sun. Does anyone know what time? I thought it was 10AM, so that is when I got there, but I walked in at 5min. til 10AM and I found 1 Loreal Revitalift towelettes in a basket near the front. My ECBs all expired on the 3rd too, so I had to burn through some and I had about 40, so if I had to burn through them anyways, I thought, "Why not add some so that I can use my $10 off a $50?" I'll be honest...I'm one of the suckers that makes promises to themselves at the beginning of the year. Last year I tried to cook more and be more conscious of what I was purchasing(I've always read ingredient labels, but I'm more concerned/aware now)...also, to be more frugal. Last June, I decided that ad matching was not going to cut it to maintain my goal of frugalness, so I started coupon-ing! This year, I'm BAKING,PUREE-ING, and exercising! I thought that if I ate more healthful and cut out the "bad" snacks(mostly), then it, plus exercising, would get the job done of losing the excess weight. Honestly, cooking and baking make me focus on eating less anyways because I'm too consumed with making the food that I don't snack! I also chew gum when I cook or keep a water bottle handy so I don't nibble on what I make:)

Cookbook recommendations: Deceptively Delicous by Jessica Seinfeld and also a similar book called The Sneaky Chef. These have kid(and hubby) friendly recipes that will also be friendly to your diet.

When you purchase 2 ink cartridges or 1 multipack of ink, you can get a pack of printer paper up to $10 for free. This works well for me, because my Kodak ink is actually less at Best Buy and I can get nice printer paper for free. Hope this helps!

Why I coupon

Obviously I am not the first person to ever use a coupon, but I am certainly turning into an addict.I decided I needed to do this because I was TIRED OF WALMART. I HATE the place. I will still go there occasionally because:

A) It is close to my apartment and
B) only IF I have a coupon that can not be doubled and it makes the product so inexpensive that I can not resist.

Anyways, Ben(my dear hubby) was nice enough to support my move to Dillons(Kroger) who doubles coupons up to .50,like HarterHouse and Price Cutter. However, they also use a shopper card that you can DOWNLOAD Proctor and Gamble coupons onto. Sometimes, this makes the items when they go on sale FREE. The stinky part is that in Missouri you still have to pay sales tax on grocery/houshold items, but hey that's only about $0.20 usually for a bag of items. I will admit that in June when I started, I spent the same amount of money I had been using at Walmart and just getting more groceries for my dollar...it was mainly extra snack food too cause Ben was with me. But, I have done drastically better since then, especially after dicovering the joys of the ExtraBucksCare Program at CVS Pharmacy. If you have not discovered this goldmine you NEED to go to this website http://www.iheartcvs.com and read Erica's tips for starting out. The first time you go, you will spend $20-$30...(unless you can find a MM deal) try to make it items that generate large amounts of ExtraBucks and I promise you will NEVER have to spend money there again! Just keep using your extrabucks to buy more products that generate extrabucks. You can also combine manufacturers coupons with store coupons and your extrabucks for HUGE savings! You can also combine manufacturers coupons with target coupons too and gain free items.Couponing tips by "experts" that I frowned upon and learned...they were right.

1)CLIP-CLIP-CLIP! The Sunday paper, and magazines, have inserts and ads for that week. Clip all and save all. You NEVER know when you can stack coupons and what you can eventually get for free or even make money back on..like at CVS.You could do something I do also, I head to McDs in the morning and buy one paper(it's less than the machine to buy it at McDs) and then sit in lobby and get the inserts from the lobby papers. This is great for getting multiple items free. Or some look in recycling bins...but I haven't gone there yet.

4)Contact Companies! Customer feedback is largely appreciated, 1/2 of all companies will send you FREE item coupons or ones that can be doubled for free items if you simply compliment them about how much you love their product and it's the only kind you use. Just e-mail them and you'll be suprised!

5)Get involved in rewards programs! VocalPoint is a customer review board and you can test products before they hit the shelves and get TONS of coupons for yummy products. Also, mypoints.com is another good one. You can actually earn points for gift cards by redeeming coupons printed through them. I almost have enough points for a $10 gift card and I have used the site for a week!bzzagent.com allows people to test items and create "bzz" about their clients- sign up and put that I recommended you!When you get free items that you use frequently.

6)STOCK UP! I discovered a coupon for PertPlus 2-in1 shampoo that was $3 and now have 2 bottles of it. My favorite item I've stock piled is Johnson and Johnson's buddy bar soap, I now have 12 bars of soap that Tristan uses and paid zip for it.

7) Join companies mailing lists!Join snail mail and e-mail lists because unless it is a recipe e-mail lists the companies usually only send ones that include links to print off coupons and snail mail coupons are usually better because the experation dates are later.

8) Peelies, Tearpads, and Sample stations.When you're at the grocery store(an actual grocery store usually, not Wal-Mart) check boxes and items for peelies and tearpad coupons. These are generally good because when the store runs a special your coupon will work to your advantage. For instance, I've aqquired multiple "$1 off GM Cereal" which can be combined with my other coupons for "A FREE box of GM Cereal up to $4.04 when you buy 2 boxes"...I know stores run specials all of the time on cereals so I'm expecting free boxes when they go on sale again.In June Target ran a promo that if you bought 4 boxes of GM cereal you could get a $10 gift card and CVS I think ran an Extrabucks promotion with this too. In these instances there is potential to make overage toward the rest of your purchases or simply pay tax only.

9)Correct order! There is an order to maxamize your savings. At CVS you must use coupons that are i.e. $4/20 BEFORE your manufacturer and other store coupons, otherwise you'll pay more, and then use your extrabucks to pay for the total like cash.

10) Patience and smiles! Some cashiers are not aware of the stores coupon/ad policies. They don't know that if you are getting your items for free(let's say that's all your purchasing) that the items have to be entered as a coupon for the exact amount as the coupon as to not owe you any money. They are also usually unaware that at Dillons anyways, if a product does not ring up at the advertised price on the shelf or in the stores weekly ad the item is FREE. If you want to avoid waiting in line just print out the stores coupon policy or have a manager write it out for you to show the cashiers. Always smile and apologize to the customers behind you for being a pain, and if it is easier go to the customer service desk after checking out and have them fix your total there...it's worth it in the long run for you to save. The people behind you and the cashier don't pay your bills.

Hickory Creek Farms, KS

Last weekend the lil' ones and I went with my in-laws and friends to visit Hickory Creek Farms . We made the 2 hr. drive there to visit family friend who own the farm and also visit their old house and church they used to pastor. Hickory Creek Farms is the cutest pumpkin patch! I highly recommend going if you live anywhere within a couple hours. There is plenty to do! We brought a picnic lunch and the kids have many activities. When we were there a little girl was having a birthday party, which gave me the idea to do that for Tristan when he is older. Anyways, visit the site (and the farm!) and browse pictures of the place below :) Happy pumpkin picking! *I also got really excited because they have Cinderella pumkins, which I'd never seen before.

The suggested retail prices are ? and 2.99 for 8 flaky twists...try to save your coupons until closer towards the expiration date, because the product will have been out longer and you will probably find it on rollback or sale by then.

What did you get in the mail this week? It always suprises me what I recieve because I don't remember half of the coupons/samples I sign up for. I was pleasently suprised the past two weeks when I recieved tons of coupons and samples! Here's what I can remember:

I've been asked a few times where I get my coupons from. The most common place is the Sunday Paper. I have learned that it is best to hang on to EVERY coupon until it expires because the best deals(even MMs) come right around then. I also print them online from coupons.com, smartsource.com, and maufacturers web sites. But, my favorite coupons come from the manufacturer or VocalPoint. Vocalpoint is a company hired to promote new products for large corporations. The last campaign I recieved was for Kellogg's new line of products and it came with a packet of $1off coupons and a BOGO coupon. Also, I'm a buzzagent for bzzagent.com. This is a group like vocalpoint only you get campaigns to test based on how much you particiapate on the website...since I'm a newbie my offers do not come as often. The best place so far though is mypoints.com. If you print coupons.com coupons through this site and then redeem them you earn points toward gift cards! I love getting rewards for saving and the best part is they email you too and if you simply click on them, you'll earn even more points. It only takes a couple months to earn a free gift card without spending any money! If you shop online, you'll be rewarded even more. Just click on the merchant from mypoints.com and you'll earn points based on how much you spend and will sometimes recieve special discounts or free items. WOO!

Please do NOT use any internet coupons issued by Vyrl Mkt,Inc. Vyrl Mkt. assured customers that they were legitimate coupons issued during a test launch of their coupon application called "Check it Out" on the social networking site, Facebook. Now the company is claiming that their system was hacked and someone distruibuted coupons that were to be run by manufacturers, but had not been done yet. The company is facing potential law suits, not only from manufacturers, but the coupon-clipper community as well. The class action law suit filed by coupon clippers is available (although I'm NOT posting the link here) to sign up for if you feel that it is necessary to send a message that clippers do not want to be taken advantage of or destroy relationships with companies. The goal is to stop this from happening again, not to gain financial profit. Again, please do NOT use those coupons. Thanks and let's chat about happy coupon trips!
